I recently had the chance to attend an event, that I would like to list as my favourite event in the last little while. The session, which was facilitated by Michael Hughes, was called “Networking: The ULTIMATE Business-Building Strategy“. Michael spent a good (magical) two hours with a select group of Ottawa entrepreneurs talking about “networking as a tool to build your business”. The event was put together by TiE Ottawa and it absolutely rocked - in every sense. This was my first time attending a Michael Hughes workshop, and I am hoping that I would - sometime soon - have the opportunity to attend a longer (full day workshop kind of) session. The event was put together as a part of TiE Institute, a novel initiative developed by TiE Ottawa, to support the development/training needs of aspiring and successful entrepreneurs in Ottawa. For all those who agree that public speaking is their single biggest fear, I would strongly suggest that they lookout for a Michael Hughes workshop … and attend it. You will love it for its content, insight, wit and most importantly for its “context”. Of all the networking workshops I have attended, this would have to be the session that I found most relevant for entrepreneurs.

Michael gave us a number of solid tips/insights, and I plan to blog about - whatever I can remember - in a three blog series called “Michael Hughes Gems”. Stay plugged in … I will run the series from the 21st till the 23rd of November, 2008.
